A crew of Helsing AI researchers and software engineers will host the 2-day Hackathon at Rust Nation UK 2024 (March 27/28, The Brewery, London). Here are a few teaser shots, recorded last week in our London office when we put together our first prototypes of the Hackathon gear:
Hackathon access is included in your regular conference ticket and conference attendees can walk in and out as they like. Bring a laptop with a working Rust tool chain and a charger. Typical hackers show up solo or in teams of 2–4 people and will spend 60–120mins with us to work on:
- Remote controlling consumer-level quadcopters and RC cars
- Perception algorithms on video data
- Robotics and control systems
Helsing will provide a catered experience with pre-configured hardware, deployment tool chain, and libraries for robotics and perception algorithms. We have set challenging and fun Hackathon tasks at the intersection of software, hardware, and AI. Tasks and challenges come in varying levels of software and algorithmic difficulty, catering to a wide range of skills and expertise, from “What is a trait again?” to “Yes, sure, I am on the rustc core team, but this embedded stuff always bewildered me”. There will be something to learn and hack on for everyone, trust me.
