As Gold sponsors of IC Hack 2025, Helsing was proud to be part of Europe’s largest student-led hackathon hosted at Imperial College London. Taking place on 1st and 2nd February, the event showcased the skills and creativity of over 600 participants, enabling Helsing to take an active role in nurturing newer talent.
A highlight of our involvement was the tech talk on Rust macros, which drew over 100 attendees. The session demonstrated the technical interest among participants in upcoming new languages and reinforced the importance of sharing knowledge within the developer community. The slides for this talk is available on Helsing’s Github page.
Our sponsored prize category, Best use of AI to Help with Human Decision-Making, attracted 23 teams. The category challenged participants to create solutions that enhance — rather than replace — human decision-making capabilities, aligning with Helsing’s vision for AI in the defence space.
The judging process was intensive, with Helsing representatives spending over two hours evaluating the projects. The creativity and technical capability displayed by the teams made for some difficult decisions, but ultimately the project Cascade — an AI platform that maps and simulates supply chain and regulatory risks in real-time, was chosen as the winner.
Helsing is committed and excited to support educational and academic initiatives, because we believe it is truly win-win : our expertise and experience helps innovators understand and connect with real-world applications; further, active participation in such events lets us connect with Europe’s stand-out talent across a wide range of disciplines and — most importantly — diverse backgrounds!
